“The very nature of God’s holiness consists in this: it is willing Himself as the last end to work all things as suitable to His own infinite excellency.” ~Jeremiah Burroughs, 1647
Holiness is God’s standard.
Holiness is a hard word. It’s hard because it’s heavenly: godliness isn’t natural to me.
Holy is not something I hope to be. It’s something I have to be. God insists on it. God demands holiness of me because He put His holiness in me when He saved me.
I hem and haw about holiness when I believe that I contribute something to being holy. I don’t. All of the things that make me holy come from God, not me. Love, faith, goodness, and kindness all come from God. Hope, joy, strength, and courage do, too.
Holiness is all of God and none of me.
I can’t make myself holy. God does that. God expects me to work out the holiness He’s already put in me. Godliness is when others see God’s pure life in me. It’s Jesus living His life in me, not me living mine! Holiness is impossible when I choose to live by my feelings instead of by faith in Jesus.
I harm the cause of Christ when I don’t take holiness seriously. I profane His gospel when I take a flier on not being pure. I play fast and loose with my salvation when I allow the world to affect my worship.
Attack Point: Godly people are holy people. Be holy.

Good Morning, Brother! That is a really good instruction also, especially when I take time to meditate on the verses that follow it ("See to it that no one comes up short of the grace of God ... that there be no immoral person like Esau ...).
You're right. Pursuing peace and holiness is humbling way to live.
Thank You for mentioning this verse!
Good thoughts and sharing. I do like this verse on your topic.
“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.”
