“If a man’s love is directed to God, his life will reflect that goodness.” ~Thomas Tuke, 1657
God is Light.
The scientist tells us that light doesn’t push darkness away. Rather, light fills a space and reveals what’s already there. As natural light exposes things that darkness hides, God’s Light ‘fills’ men’s hearts: He shows everyone who and what they really are.
Godly people reflect God’s Light and Life. The godless absorb His Light and show themselves to be lifeless. God’s Light always reveals men’s character. The godly reflect God’s character. The godless have no reflection at all. For sin absorbs God’s light, it can’t reflect it.
God’s justice is neither blind nor bad. Instead, it reflects His perfect and pure character. God guarantees what I privately think, say, and do will one day be made publicly known. God’s verdicts give me vision: His decisions show me my sin and my Savior.
As pure oil is pressed from olives and glistens in the sun’s light, God presses His goodness out of the godly and makes it glow for all to see. When Jesus saves me, He brings His Light with Him to live in me. His Right-ness agrees with God’s justice: Jesus’ Light in me reflects God’s Light on me. When I’m pressed, people will see Jesus’ Light reflected in God’s.
God’s Light on me is blinding. Jesus’ Light in me is beautiful. To the world, it’s a “doubly beautiful” Light.
Attack Point: Be light in a dark world. Reflect God’s Light.
