“Just as a wise individual chooses a residence that upholds his reputation and meets all his needs, so Christ finds His dwelling in a humble heart, the most suitable place to manifest His glory.” Thomas Hooker, 1638
God hears the humble.
God has selective hearing: He doesn’t pay attention to every voice that calls Him.
Not all calls placed to heaven’s throne room connect with the King. Not everyone who calls God gets an answer.
Holy people are humble. The humble know they’re hurting. Hard times have stripped them of strength. Horrible circumstances have humiliated them. They know self-help fails. They’re desperate for God’s help.
History is littered with stories of men God humiliates to teach them humility. God even allows men to ‘go mad’ to humble them. For God’s mercy is mightiest when situations are meanest. He uses hard times to teach humility.
Hard times make me holy. God’s aim in hard times is holiness – to see Christ fully formed in me. He uses misery to make me like Jesus. God uses hard times to show He’s the only Hero. He uses trouble to promote Himself, not me.
When I’m hard-hearted, I have no reason to expect God to hear. When I find it hard to be humble, I’ll find God to be hard of hearing. Ignoring God in good times invites bad times to get my attention.
God rescues the hurting humble. Every time.
Attack Point: When you’re hurting, let God humble you before asking Him for help.

Quote of the day goes to you, sir.
“Ignoring God in good times invites bad times to get my attention.”
Great post today.
Oh yes, that He does! Every time I think I’m getting prideful (or something else), I picture me face to face with God. That ensures humility as well as a healthy dose of fear. He, who created absolutely everything, 99.9% of which we can’t comprehend, sent His Son to become man so that we can come to Him in prayer. I appreciate the reminder, especially as He is consistent with this in His word. We are truly blessed!🙏
