This was a rich and encouraging reminder of the beauty and power of prayer. I especially appreciated the imagery of a well-worn path to the throne of grace. Thank you for stirring up faith and calling us to seek the Lord with confidence and reverence.
My prayers always begin with thanks, followed by petitioning for understanding of His will for me. Sometimes it takes the form of talking with Him when I’m out in the yard working, usually amazement at His creation of the ‘little’ things, miracles to us. I often think I’m not good with prayer and ask for the Holy Spirit to please step in for me. I think I’m insecure about asking things for me, so almost never do except to use me where intended.
I don’t consider myself a prayer warrior, but am thankful that God is very often in my thoughts.
You know, the instant I read you comment about not asking God things for yourself, I was reminded of Matthew 6:8 which reads, "... for your heavenly Father knows what you need, before you ask Him."
I then thought of how if I'm doing my job to pray for you (ff. Ephesians 6:18; 1 Timothy 2:1) and you're doing yours by praying for me, and Jesus knows it all anyway as He intercedes for all of us (Hebrews 7:25), shouldn't my praying really be focused on you? I think so! And I can make a strong Biblical case that it's a beautiful way to build the 'unity' and 'fellowship' that both Jesus (John 17) and Paul [and the author of Hebrews] (Romans 12:13; 1 Corinthians 1:9; Hebrews 10:24-25) addressed.
I've found so much peace and satisfaction in praying for others, especially for folks whose prayers God cannot or will not hear ... either because He doesn't savingly know them, or because sin blocks His hearing. What a privilege it is to carry those prayers to God, knowing that He already knows what I need!
I pray in the yard, too, My Friend. You're my people. 😉 And, as a bonus, I'm usually already on my knees in a humble posture anyway, so that makes it even better! 🤣
Keep doing what you're doing. You're more of prayer warrior than you realize.
Thank you for being the vessel for God’s encouragement, including His references! I’m encouraged and concur that the standard garden position is perfect for prayer! I do pray for you and those studying His word! You are a blessing to me (more to come, I’m convinced)!!🙏
Thank You! Please pray that I might simply be a pen in God's Hand and faithfully 'report the Good News of the gospel!' I don't want to entertain with the Word of God. I just want to explain it so that others might see and know the Good News!
